PRESS RELEASE: WILL THE CRANBERRY TARTS VERSUS THE DAMES OF WHININ’ ROSES GET TOO HAT TO HANDLE AT THE THIRD ANNUAL LOBSTER BREAKFAST?
For Immediate Release
24 hour lobster hotline: 310-798-7478 (recording for publication)
AUGUST 6, 2007 – SAN PEDRO, CA. – At 7:30 am on Friday, Sept. 14, the Port of Los Angeles Lobster Festival kicks off with a rumble on the waterfront at the Third Annual Lobster Breakfast. The 110 member “Cranberry Tarts of San Pedro” go up against Lomita’s “Dames of Whinin’ Roses” for the second time in a lobster hat throwdown to see whose hat will become the King of Crustaceans’ Official Crown – and earn a donation for the winner’s charity. The Cranberry Tarts will be defending their title this year. The 2006 Lobster Breakfast received television coverage in over 17 states and as far away as Hawaii and Alaska.
The sisters who will be strutting their hattitude belong to the Red Hat Society, a national “dis–organization” whose qualifications for membership include being over 50 and attending meetings in full regalia (red hat, purple outfit and usually a bright crimson feather boa).
“We think this is a wonderful way to have some fun, do some good and showcase LA’s exciting waterfront,” said Cranberry Tart Vice-Queen Dorothy Matich, last year’s winner. “We’re going to show those crimson chicks from Lomita what a radical fringe is all about.”

PRESS RELEASE: THE RACHAEL RAY SHOW FEATURES THE PORT OF LOS ANGELES LOBSTER FESTIVAL’S LOBSTERDOG PARADE
For Immediate Release
24 hour lobster hotline: 310-798-7478 (recording for publication)
AUGUST 6, 2007 – SAN PEDRO, CA. – The July 12 episode of Rachael Ray’s hit television show featured a segment filmed during the 2006 LobsterDog Pet Parade at the Port of Los Angeles Lobster Festival. The parade takes place at noon on Saturday during the festival, and is a fundraiser for Peninsula Dog Parks, Inc.
“Peninsula Dog Parks has done an incredible job each year producing the LobsterDog Parade, and Rachael Ray managed to really capture both the originality of the costumes and the excitement of the parade,” said Jim Hall, Lobster Festival producer. “I’m so glad that all their hard work is bringing national attention to the great job they do.” The LobsterDog Parade has also been the subject of documentaries on American life produced in Germany and Korea.
“Being featured on the Rachael Ray Show puts San Pedro’s own Lobster Festival in a whole new category, we’re now officially a nationally recognized event,” Hall said. “No other food festival in Southern California has been featured on both the Food Network, and a show like Rachael Ray’s. I’d say that ranks Port of Los Angeles Lobster Festival right up there claw-to-claw as a major family event.
