The Port of Los Angeles Lobster Festival will be taking a hiatus in 2018

The Port of Los Angeles Lobster Festival will be taking a hiatus in 2018 and will
return in a reimagined form in the future. Preliminary plans are to move it back to
mid-September and look at a new site along the LA Waterfront. The Lobster
Festival is the largest event of its kind in the world and has won multiple awards,
including four Guinness World Records.
“This break will give us time to address some lingering issues regarding parking
and traffic flow,” said Jim Hall who has produced the Festival since 1999. “We will
also look at web-based advanced ticketing for both admission and meals. Returning
the Festival to its original mid-September timeframe is one of the most requested
changes.”
“The Lobster Festival was our first major annual LA Waterfront event, and it has
proven its success time and again over the years,” said Arley Baker, the Port’s
Senior Communications Director. “This hiatus will help us determine traffic
patterns following completion of the Harbor Blvd. realignment project and look at
other ways we might be able to enhance the visitor experience.”
