We want to set the record straight. Many of you have called another local city and have been told either that there is no Lobster Festival in San Pedro or that it is sold out. Well, there is and it’s not sold out. in fact we have ordered 38,000 lobsters for the weekend, so come on down to San Pedro and help us rock the boat while enjoying the freshest lobsters outside of Maine.
First Class tickets sold out last night. This was always a limited online offer and we extended it a few days as a convenience for our guests. We thank all those who bought First Class tickets, the tens of thousands of dollars raised will go a long way towards helping struggling families.
By popular demand, online sales of First Class Tickets has been extended for a few more days. The popular option includes a two-lobster meal with fresh made Cole slaw, fresh made spicy potatoes, fresh made salmon seafood salad, butter, roll, lemon wedges, dessert, and a beer or wine if you are 21 or older. Other perks includes a special area to pick up your meal and a gated seating tent with a private no-host bar. Admission for all three days is included.
“Sales have skyrocketed in the past three days so we have decided to continue online sales as a convenience for our guests,” said Jim Hall, festival producer. “At this rate we will sell out online and it’s possible none will be available for sale at the festival.” Guests with e-tickets need to check-in at the First Class reception booth at the entrance where they will get a special wristband, their drink ticket and other perks before entering the festival site. Now located in front of the USS Iowa, the 17th Annual Port of Los Angeles Lobster Festival, July 22, 23, and 24, is set to serve up another eclectic plate of exciting music along with thousands of plate of delicious hot lobster meals.
“The summer concert season doesn’t begin ‘til you wipe the butter off your chin, so join the party with eighteen of the greatest bands in the LA music scene, ” said Jim Hall, President of International Lobster Festivals, Inc., producers of the Port of Los Angeles Lobster Festival.
“Starting Friday with a rockin’ blues set from the Scott Whyte Band, we’ll keep shoveling on the rock and roll all weekend. We’ve got something for everyone, no matter where you go in the venue. Terrific acts on the main stage, and offstage we’ll have everything from Line Dancing Lobsters to Hit and Run Hula flashmobs (Sat. & Sun.) plus a few other surprises. Our carnival area has doubled in size with more rides and games than ever before.
“San Pedro is a town that works hard and plays hard, Friday night is for the home team,” said Hall. “If you like rock and roll and want to see three of the best local bands, then we’ve got what you are looking for.” Headlining Friday will be a new show from The Hula Girls with their patented hulabilly tunes and gorgeous dancers, supported by the new rock sounds of DECORATIONS and opening the show will be the Scott Whyte Band (you get extra points if you can guess where you’ve seen Scott before).
“On Saturday July 23 the party really gets started with a dynamite lineup of fun,” said Hall. “We’ll be kicking off the music and 1 pm with a down-home set of country rock from the famous group Honey County. Filling out the bill will be a terrific lineup of indie bands, called “the most ambitious in LA” – Hawai, Banta, The Rebel Light, Dear Boy and one of our personal favorites, Leslie Stevens and special guests. The Colourists will headline the evening at 9 pm and supported by their co-headliner KITTEN at 8 pm. Opening the evening is Andrew Watt. Better yet, it’s all included in the price of admission.”
Sunday’s show kicks off at noon with Clean Spill. Filling out the afternoon will be Magic Bronson, Oyster Kids, and The Shari Puerto Band,
Headlining at 5 pm Sunday will be The Black Crystal Wolf Kids. Opening for for the BCW Kids is Blondfire.
“There is no better or more affordable entertainment and dining bargain than the Port of Los Angeles Lobster Festival,” said Hall. “We deliver a day of dynamic family entertainment and a delicious fresh cooked lobster meals for less than the meal would cost in most restaurants. Any one of these acts would cost you at least $20.00 or more to see in a club, but at the lobsterfest they are free with the price of admission.”
Admission is $12.00 for adults, kids under 12, Active duty and retired military and veterans with a VA card get in free. Conveniently located at the end of the 110 Harbor Freeway, parking and shuttle buses are free. 2016 festival hours are: 5 pm to 11 pm, Friday, July 22, 11 am to 11 pm, Saturday, July 23; 11 am to 7 pm, Sunday, July 24. Principal non-profit beneficiaries of the 2016 Lobster Festival are Harbor Interfaith Services, and the San Pedro Rotary Club.
It seems like a lot of guests want more of a good thing. More lobsters and more fresh-made sides.
Port of Los Angeles Lobster Festival 2015 guests overwhelmingly responded that they want a double lobster meal in a post-event survey. So that’s what they will be getting beginning this year, not one, but two 1.25 lb. fresh steamed Maine lobsters. The First Class meal also includes fresh made cole slaw, a fresh baked sweet roll, fresh made seafood salad, lemon wedges, fresh cooked spiced potatoes, butter and dessert and a beer, wine or a soft drink.
Other First Class perks include weekend admission, a special pickup area at the meal tent, a private dining tent with a no-host beer and wine bar, and while supplies last a collectible poster, and a San Pedro Fish Markets tote bag.
First Class Tickets may be ordered at the lobster festival’s ticket page.
“This is a high value, delicious fresh-steamed Maine lobster meal, with a chance to help our community. 20% of the proceeds is donated directly to Harbor Interfaith Services and is used to help the less fortunate,” said Jim Hall, producer of the Port of Los Angeles Lobster Festival. “The meal alone plus weekend admission would cost around $80.00 or more at other festivals. No one can beat our $65.00 price.” Last year First Class Tickets sales generated almost $40,000.00 in proceeds, and was used to pay for daycare, a food bank and job training for local residents in need.

May 30, 2016. In honor of Memorial Day we have teamed up with the good folks in command of the USS IOWA to announce a double discount for those defend us, both present and past. This year the Lobster Festival all active duty military, retired military and veterans with a valid VA card will be admitted free to both the Port of Los Angeles Lobster Festival and the USS IOWA.
Jim Hall, CEO of International Lobster Festivals, inc. and producer of the Port of Los Angeles Lobster Festival who is also a disabled Army veteran said, “I personally know the sacrifice all members of the military are called on to give in defense our country. Getting a chance to enjoy the Lobster Festival and tour the USS IOWA for free is a small reward for their service to our nation.”
The Port of Los Angeles Lobster Festival will be held July 22-23-24 in front of the USS IOWA in San Pedro. Hours are 5-11 pm on Friday, 11 am to 11 pm on Saturday and 11 am to 7 pm on Sunday.
